Racing for a Cure - Top Alcohol Pro Junior Dragster # 4302
About Us....

My name is Justin Penton-Shaulis and I am 17 years old. I HAVE CANCER! I was diagnosed back in 2006 with Osteosarcoma (aka Bone Cancer). I have been through it all. Chemotherapy, 8 surgeries, prosthesis in my leg, Biopsies, Labs, Central Line and Physical Therapy to get me where I am today. I can proudly say that I have been in remission for  4 years now. It is important to me to be able to do whatever I can to help give back to the charities that have helped me and my family throughout my journey so they can rest assured and know like we did that they are not alone and we are here for them. That is why I devote my web site and my racing to "Racing for a Cure".

It has always been my dream since I was a little boy to race a dragster. Of course I like the Top Fuel ones... but I had to start somewhere. The class that I race in is called Advanced Juniors. I began racing in 2008 driving a 99 Strickland Alcohol Junior Dragster going 8.90/75mph. In my 3rd race ever I went to the final round and achieved runner up (See below in Winners Circle). I now have a 2005 Mike Boss Alcohol Junior Dragster which takes me down the track going 7.70's-7.90's at 85-90mph. I raced a full season in 2009 at HRP along with going to Pinevalley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas and at Houston Motorsports Park also in Texas. I won my first event in October in a double points race and also competed in the NHRA Jr. Drgaster Challenge where I won first place and a Wally. I finished 9th in points for the 2009 & 5th in 2010 season against 35 fellow drivers. A recent victory would be competing and winning the 2010 ADRL Dragapoloza in Baytown, Texas. Along with the most recent victory being competing in and placing 1st and overall CHAMP of the 2011 NHRA Jr Dragster Challenge. This is my 2nd victory in 2 years in this particular competition for NHRA.

We go to the track alot just to test and tune to make sure that my dragster is performing to the best of its ability. The dragster is tuned by my Dad Daryl Shaulis. He has been a mechanic for over 28 years and has been crew for several race teams. My Mom Angela Shaulis is my manager (momager). She takes care of all my time slips and entry fees and making sure I have all my safety gear when I head to the starting line. She sees me into my dragster tells me good luck, to go get em'and gets me to the starting line for each and every pass I make. I thank God every day for giving me the gift of life and also for the joy of racing. My family and I have met so many wonderful families that we now call our race family!
